Nok

We are delighted to be stopping in Bangkok, because we get to have breakfast with Nok and her mother. Hooray.

Nok was our AFS student who lived with us during the 96-97 school year. (She was in Cassie's class.) The attached picture (with Catherine) was taken at her graduation. Nok works for the UN in Bangkok. She speaks Thai, Chinese, English and French.

Cannot wait to see her.

To the Indian Subcontinent

The Lacos are heading on the road again -- to Bangladesh, India (Darjeeling, Sikkim and Kolkata) and Bhutan. We travel from the Ganges Delta to hill country to the Himalayas. Last week the highs were 88 in Kolkata, 60 in Darjeeling and 40 in Bhutan.

This is not heavily touristed area so we will be travelling again with Explore.

We had hoped to lure Sara and Tj on this trip, since they are interested in seeing Louis Kahn's famous modernist Parliament Building in Dhaka, but it was not to be.

We fly 13 hours to Narita (Japan), 7 hours to Bankgkok, where we overnight, and then a couple of hours to Dhaka.

I have attached a sketch of our trip.
