We were actually heading to Paharpur yesterday before Mahastan. Paharpur is an 8th century Buddhist Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It had a nice little museum with Buddhist and Hindu pieces. There was a lovely sculpture of the Buddhist deity Tara, but I couldn't take pictures. The ruin itself was impressive.
